Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc. has welcomed Jesus “Chuy” Gonzalez as Vice President of Government Relations. In this role, Mr. Gonzalez will lead statewide business and development strategy for government relations efforts for the firm. Mr. Gonzalez is located in the Austin office.
“Chuy’s extensive understanding of policy and government relations in state and local arenas is invaluable to our clients and to our team,” said Sam Dawson, P.E., Pape-Dawson Engineers’ Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited he has chosen to join us.”
“Pape-Dawson is known and respected in Central Texas and has grown tremendously in recent years,” said Chuy Gonzalez, VP Government Relations Pape-Dawson. “I am glad to know that my background will add value to this already prospering group.”
Mr. Gonzalez has over 15 years of experience in strategic operations, planning, and communications for various governmental entities and public and private sector clients. He has held several leadership roles including transportation policy advisor to Governor Greg Abbott and, most recently, Chief of Staff at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) where he provided direction and guidance in the implementation of policies, programs, and operating strategies. He also has worked closely with members of the Texas Legislature on various policy issues and key legislative and regulatory activity.
Mr. Gonzalez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M International University.
